Best time to come

In the autumn the mountain views are crystal clear, but the trek can be taken throughout the year.
Rafting down the Himalayan rivers are also good in autumn and in spring/spring

Level of trip grade

Trek – Introductory-Moderate Adventure

This trek is suitable for anybody with a reasonable level of fitness and who enjoys outdoors activities. The trek in terms of grade and difficulty can be classified as Introductory to Moderate Adventure grade, which depends on the level of fitness and determination. The highest point on the trek is little over 3,000m. Nepal is mostly a hilly country but some people can find it challenging, though for some people it could be just a stroll.

Biking: Mountain biking in the mountains here is gaining in popularity, as this area has become more easily accessible due to the road recently built to Muktinath. It may be a bit difficult for the beginner, but absolutely possible, as the itinerary has been designed to provide the minimum discomfort. The biking upstream especially on the way to Muktinath can be somewhat strenuous, but the downhill ride will be very enjoyable even if sometimes hard to steer through the strong wind blowing up along the valley, especially from Kagbeni to Marpha. In some parts, especially towards the end, the biking can be little technical due to suspension bridges and trail conditions, which although is actually improving, can be interesting in some places. The distance by bike covered will be about 80-90km on this trip.

Rafting – three days rafting classified as class III-IV: The rapids on the Kali Gandaki are much more technical and continuous than many other rivers and thus, keeps paddlers busy all day. Both experienced and novice rafters will love this stretch of river. Nowhere else is it possible to find such diversity on a three-day raft trip. Nice drops, sparkling chutes and turbulent rapids provide class III to IV+ runs during the autumn and spring seasons. This ancient trading route from Tibet takes you through the deepest river gorge in the world. Watch out for the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges as you go flying down the river!

Jungle Safari – Leisurely Adventure: This activity requires much lower levels of energy, but involves some walks for a couple hours, jeep rides and elephant safaris for one to two hours. You will be kept busy, but it’s very relaxing to explore in the nature after the strenuous activities you have been involved in during the earlier part of your trip. Anybody with any interest in nature and wildlife or birds would love this part of the trip.
