Nature Trek frequently asked question

FAQ

Can I trek alone?

There is absolutely no reason why you cannot travel alone! It allows you to be flexible while travelling and you can take your own time if you wish to explore the area and meet the local people. But travelling alone is only possible if one is comfortable and is able to adapt according to the different area’s customs and culture that you come across.

Will the food and water be okay?

The tourist areas are well informed about the hygiene and the food requirements of the tourists. All well cooked food is safe to eat provided that the serving container is clean and dry. Hot beverages are also safe for tourists with the exception of untreated water which is unsafe for tourists. Though the water may look clean, it might not be good for your system as you might not be able to adjust to it and this might also make you sick. Thus, we strongly advise all the tourists, visiting Nepal, to always purify the local water before using it provided no mineral water is available.

How difficult would it be for a non- Nepali Speaker?

In almost all the tourist areas, people, in general, do understand English and communicating for a Non-Nepali can be fine. It would be a good idea to try and learn some basic Nepali words and phrases prior to travelling so that you can interact with the locals as well.

Namaste (a greeting word) – Hello/ Hi
Dhanyabaad – Thank you
Tapai ko naam ke ho - What is your name!
Mero naam Erica ho - My name is Erica.
Tapai kahan dekhi or bata aunu bhayeko ho- Where are you coming from?
Ma tourist ho- I am a tourist.

How safe will it be to trek!

The trekking areas are comparatively safer than the populated areas of the cities and trekking in these areas can be a very peaceful and satisfying experience. In addition to that, our staffs are always aware about the situation in different areas and they also take the extra effort to make your trip very safe and enjoyable. Safety is our foremost priority!

Can I get help in an emergency?

Most of the trekking and traveling areas are remote where emergency assistance is not easily available. However, rest assured as you are in safe hands and our trained staffs will always find a way to take you to safety, should such a need arise.

Can I trust the porters?

Most of the porters are professional and very trustworthy. The reliability depends on how the porters are chosen: porters who do not have experience and are picked from the middle of nowhere are not reliable. However, we always use reliable and trustworthy porters on our tours and treks. Our staffs also make sure that the porters work accordingly and there are no complaints from the tourists.
