What to expect and not to expect

Remember you tour is into the natural areas, not in captivity and hence sighting of birds and major wildlife depends entirely on their movement and the chances you go through. Sometime you will be able to sight almost all major animals and birds you wish and some time nothing much but being in nature is always rewarding experience. However, taking a walk, elephant back safari or boat/canoe into the nature is never disappointing for the nature lovers. There is always an opportunity to come across many beautiful birds and animals signs, which is equally rewarding experience being in the nature.

Level of grade ~ leisurely easy trip

Categorized as grade leisurely adventure trips, this tour involves driving to the major destinations of the activities. At the same time wildlife exploration will be done on elephant back and in jeep in Chitwan  national parks. Therefore, it’s suitable for anyone and all ages, who does not mind taking short walks and drives  A day hike down the Phulchauki hill can be little more than just leisurely for some.

Best time/season

Best season being winter, spring and summer. In winter the birds are on their way down to southern part of the earth passing and migrating Nepal, which is great season to see them. In spring and summer they start migrating too.

The Trip

Birds are the amazingly fascinating life form on the planet earth. Watching, studying and appreciating them are great pleasure and opportunity for human. There are lots to learn from them, which is possible only when we allow them to exist side by side. Many birds has been lost from the earth and numerous are in the verge of extinction.

Migration of the birds to Nepal is wonderful especially during the fall and winter months. The migration begins from the beginning of fall. Then the birds usually are recorded and seen in Nepal for the months of October, November, December, January, February and March till later summer time, best months being December, January and February to watch the migrating species of birds.

During this tour you will be visiting the wonderful sites in Nepal. The tour highlights the migrating birds that come as far as Siberia to winter here and return back to their breeding ground when the weather become congenial. Nepal inspite of being very small country is exceptional for birds’ life, (9% -Bird Conservation Nepal). The birds found and seen in Nepal are incredibly diverse occurring in all suitable habitats from lowland to mountains and in dry to wetland areas.

The birding tour, walk or hike usually begins very early as early morning being the best time to see and hear the birds.

The time in Kathmandu will be spent a longer hike than other places. The walk or hike is in the hill area and can be longer depending how you take your time and the finding of birds and other parts of nature, whereas the walks in Chitwan and Pokhara is on a easy part , which can be still stretched to longer duration specially visiting places far from the accommodations.

Equipment and clothing

A pair of binocular (8×42 or 10 x 40 recommended) and telescope if possible, Birds of Nepal field guide, pencil/pen and notebook and camera.

As we know that this tour involves in venturing into the nature to experience its beauty and richness, which can be very enjoyable experience. You are advised to wear the nature-friendly outfits, so there is a maximum chance to get close to the nature to view them in their natural habitats.
