Annapurna Dhaulagiri Community Eco-trail

This trek is an extended journey of short, “Taste of Community Eco-Lodge Trail”, that takes you into much closer contact with the spectacular Himalayas, visiting more local communities, hence spreading the support to more villages. This trek offers a close-up experience of the local culture and the fantastic and inspiring mountains views. The first four days, you visit the same villages as on the, Taste of Community Eco-Lodge Trek, and continue the trail towards the north to the stunning Khopra ridge, with optional visit to the pristine alpine lake of Khayer before descending down to the deepest gorge of holy Kali Gandaki via the slate-roofed settlements of Paudar village to adventurous drive back to Pokhara via Beni

This trek starts from Galeshwor after Beni located to the west of Pokhara and travels through the villages Nangi, Tikot and Swanta, Paudwar via spectacular viewpoints of Mohare Hills and Khopra ridge. You will be walking from some 6-7 hours in average, though sometimes it’s much less and sometimes longer.

Trekkers will enjoy more, as this is community-based tourism with genuine eco-sense and offers all the components such as great mountain views, real village life cultural experience, natural environment, friendly people, real trekking or walking experience. The added highlight is, all the lodges are fully managed and run by the communities themselves, directly benefitting economically and employment generation for the whole communities. They are also involved in community organic farms (the orange juice factory), a school for higher secondary levels, community forest and many other activities collectively.

Season/time to go on this trek
This trek can be done throughout the year. However, if you are looking for settled weather and clear mountain views, it’s the autumn, winter to spring and summer.
Food, Drinks and Accommodation
All the meals and accommodations are catered by the communities in community managed lodges and homestay. Most of the food items come from the villages only and cooks are trained to prepare the tasty and hygienic food items.
For drinking water, we strongly advise you to bring one or two-liter water bottles to refill with boiled and treated water, as plastic mineral water bottles are discouraged for environmental reasons. The water bottle can be filled at the lodges whenever you need or at the lunch stops.
At the same time you may also consider visit Chitwan national park before heading back, a perfect place to chill out and enjoy the wildlife safari tour. Or join us on our Seti Gandaki or Kaligandaki River (trips organised by our professional sister company Ultimate Descents Nepal )
