Phulchauki Hill, the highest point around the valley at 2760 meters, rises above the lush Godawari forest—together forming a vibrant ecosystem that spans over 50 square kilometers.

1-Day Birding Experience

Location: Godawari Community Forest
Duration: Approx. 5–6 hours

Explore the lush lower Phulchauki forest at Godawari, home to diverse bird species. The trail follows easy roadside paths and accessible forest patches, offering excellent birdwatching without the need for strenuous hiking.


2-Day Birding Experience

Day 1: Birding at Godawari Community Forest

  • 5–6 hours of birdwatching along the scenic forest and roadside paths
  • Chance to spot species such as: Striated Laughingthrush, Himalayan Cutia, Blue-napped Pitta, Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush, and more

Day 2: Birding at Phulchauki Hill (Upper Section)

  • A more adventurous trail with rocky paths at higher elevations
  • Opportunity to encounter rare hill and highland bird species not often found in lower zones

Note: Daily birding time may vary (shorter or longer) based on group interest, weather conditions, and bird activity.


Birding Basics – What to Expect

  • Birdwatching is typically done along the road and forest edge, where birds are easier to see and hear
  • Some light forest trails may be explored, depending on interest and accessibility
  • The lower section (Godawari) is gentler and bird-rich
  • The upper section (Phulchauki) requires more walking but offers chances for rarer high-altitude species

What to Bring

  • Binoculars (essential for viewing)
  • “Birds of Nepal” field guide (your guide will have a copy)
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Drinking water & snacks or packed lunch
  • Lightweight jacket or rain gear depending on the season

Tour Departures

This birding tour can be arranged on any day, but it’s best to avoid Saturdays (Nepali weekend) as the area becomes busy with local picnickers which may disturb bird activity. If Saturday is your only option, arrangements can still be made for a fulfilling experience.

DEPARTURES
Birding can be done any day- Sun to Friday (avoiding Saturday due to the weekend crowds around)
Or any other day, though its best to avoid the weekend-Saturday as many local people visit there, for their picnic making it quite a disturbed area for birds and birdwatcher but if that is the day it’s okay to visit.
COST: 
1 Days tour @ Godawari (lower Phulchauki) only: from US$ 170  for 1 to 2 person. For more than 3 person the cost will be revised as person or a group cost.
2 Days in Phulchauki Hill US$ 350 with minimum group size of 2 person
This tour is guaranteed for any number of the person, through minimum 2 person would an ideal group size.
