Pure Community Eco-Trail – An Ethical and Sustainable Trek!

Trip Code: ADECO01
11-Day Trip | 5 Nights, 6 Days Introductory to Moderate Trek

This ethical and sustainable trek follows a pure community-based journey, the first of its kind in Nepal, officially launched in 2010 by Nature Treks in collaboration with the Myagdi community. This trek provides a perfect short circuit through vibrant villages, natural landscapes, and offers breathtaking mountain views, making it suitable for trekkers of all ages, including families.

Along the way, you’ll experience orange farms, community-managed forests, and sustainable community initiatives. Trek through beautiful villages, witness stunning viewpoints, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of untouched wilderness and nature at its best. All while interacting with local communities and experiencing their rich culture—an experience that goes beyond the physical trek!

Trip Highs

  • First-Ever Community-Based Tourism Model: This trek is the only community-run tourism initiative in Nepal, managed by locals under the guidance of the local school, promoting both education and economic development.
  • Spectacular Mountain Views: Enjoy unparalleled views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, with pristine natural forests that are rich in biodiversity, including abundant birdlife and wildlife.
  • Sustainable Eco-Trekking: The trek promotes sustainability with visits to community farms and Eco-friendly lodges, ensuring your travel supports local conservation and cultural preservation.

The Trek

This short but beautiful trek forms a perfect circuit through charming villages, farmland, pristine forests, and stunning viewpoints. Along the way, you’ll experience authentic local culture, pristine wilderness, and nature at its best, all within a peaceful, intact environment. The trek typically starts early in the morning after breakfast, with a lunch break around midday, and overnights at community-managed lodges. The average walking duration is 5–6 hours per day, though it may vary depending on the individual and weather conditions.

This trail is categorized as Introductory to Moderate Adventure, with the highest point being 3,300m at Mohare Hill.

Why Choose This Trek?

The Annapurna Dhaulagiri Mini Eco-Trail is a perfect choice for trekkers of all levels, including families. Despite its proximity to popular trekking routes, this trail remains off the beaten track, offering a unique adventure in a less-traveled area.

  • Ethical and Purposeful Trekking: This trek is designed with a deep sense of purpose. It offers trekkers a chance to experience community-based tourism, where your journey contributes directly to local development. The lodges along the trail are managed by the communities themselves, providing economic benefits and creating job opportunities for locals.
  • Authentic Cultural & Natural Experience: Enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, interact with friendly locals, and explore villages where traditional life is still vibrant. The trek also takes you through a variety of natural environments, from organic farms to community-managed forests.
  • Sustainable Development: The communities you visit are involved in several sustainable initiatives, including organic farming (such as the orange juice factory), managing community forests, and running a local school for higher education. Your participation supports these initiatives, helping build a more self-sufficient and resilient local economy.

Season / Best Time to Trek

This trek can be undertaken year-round, though for the best weather and clear mountain views, the ideal months are from September to May.

Food and Drink

Meals consist of simple Nepali-style dishes, primarily made from locally grown vegetables and grains like rice, wheat, corn, and buckwheat. These ingredients are sourced directly from the villages, ensuring freshness and sustainability.

For drinking water, we recommend bringing two reusable water bottles (e.g., Nalgene) to refill with boiled or treated water from the lodges. Plastic mineral water bottles are discouraged to minimize environmental impact.

Accommodations

Accommodation will be in community-managed lodges and homestays, offering simple, clean beds with basic amenities. These accommodations are designed to give you a comfortable, authentic experience while supporting the local community.

What’s Next, After the Trek?

After completing the trek, you have several options to extend your adventure based on your time and interests:

Chitwan National Park: If you’re looking to unwind, consider visiting Chitwan National Park. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a wildlife safari, where you can spot rhinos, elephants, and tigers in their natural habitat.

Whitewater Rafting: For those seeking more excitement, join us on an adventurous whitewater rafting trip on the Seti Gandaki or Kali Gandaki Rivers, organized by our professional sister company, Ultimate Descents Nepal.
