Ghost of the Mountains!

Also known as, “Ghost of the Mountain” Snow Leopard Panthera uncia, listed as a vulnerable C1, an almost endangered species, is a charismatic animal of the world. In Nepal, they inhabits alpine and subalpine regions of the country with rocky and mountain cliffs. They are also seriously threatened by poaching. Bringing more people to protect is the aim, we all should do, so that they can live naturally in some part of the earth. Tourism, does have some impacts but can also help in awareness. At the same time tourism also helps in their conservation and very important livelihood of the local community of that area.  Snow Leopard also, truly deserve to be here along with human! Let’s go admire this beautiful being and spread the word to protect them, not just for present but for future generations to come (human and Snow Leopard).

The valley of Nar Phu is haven for this, elusive Snow Leopard, where the density is 6 individual per 100 square km. The main wild prey, Blue Sheep’s density is 8 individual per square km. So far, this valley is known as, having the  highest density of Snow Leopard, in the country and hence the chance of encounter rate is 90%, that no other parts of the country has.
